Microorganisms present in the air are a potential risk of contamination of raw materials, products, process and personnel working in rooms that require controlled environments.

The environmental microbiological monitoring allows to assess if the environmental conditions of the room and the personnel, as far as microorganisms and viable particles, are under control and are kept within the recommended limits. The purpose of this control is to support that the design of the installation, the disinfectants used or the established procedures are adequate.

Furthermore, it is an essential requirement to guarantee the compliance of GMP in those facilities that require controlled environments.

What is needed for these studies?

Monitoring equipment, qualified microbiological incubators and identification equipment are needed as well as a high experience in order to avoid contaminations during the sampling. In addition, the GMP certification is also necessary.
